v-shows, anyone ever competed in one? Would you?

Has anyone here ever participate in virtual on-line shows? I belong to an association that does these but this is the first I've heard of them. I can't wait until I can ride my horses so I can compete.

Equine Association Makes Virtual History

International Performance Horse Development Association

IPHDA the equestrian association that asks "how broke is your horse?" is off and running and WOW what a way to start.

IPHDA recently made "virtual" history with its first ever international equestrian competition held on-line in March 2008. There were levels of competition to test the horse and riders ability to execute walk-trot transitions and circles, straight lines, and 90 degree turns as well as more challenging patterns asking the horse and rider to perform the dynamic and exciting flying lead changes, spins, and sliding stops.

With Jim McCutcheon (an internationally renowned clinician who shows Reiners, Cutters, and Cow Horses) judging competitors from the US and Canada, our first v-show was a huge success! Exhibitors were competing for cash awards, and a high point buckle by Silversmith.

IPHDA will continue holding virtual competitions every six weeks, to allow members to compete for great prizes without ever leaving home. The entries for the next v-show close June 1, 2008. Entry details can be found at www.iphda.com.

IPHDA has also developed an interactive website loaded with information to help members that seek better horsemanship skills. At www.iphda.com members will find:

Judges critiques of all virtual show entries: Exhibitors can read what judges thought of their ride.
Clinician critiques: V show exhibitors can read suggestions from IPHDA clinicians for improving their performance.
Trainer tips: Members can watch tips presented by IPHDA clinicians on how to pass each level of the IPHDA program.

Whether riders are looking for the skills to train their own horses, or to become more effective on professionally trained horses, or just looking for a fun competition for their family to enjoy with their horses, IPHDA has something for everyone.

Along with on-line competitions, there are also IPHDA clinics and competitions held in an ever increasing number of areas around the globe. If you can't find a competition in your area do what Nathan Horseman of Alaska did, organize your own IPHDA event, it is simple, rewarding and easy with IPHDA's assistance. IPHDA has been compared to, and identified as, western dressage, reining, or horsemanship. All three are accurate descriptions.

Like dressage, IPHDA starts its competition at a very basic level, and using a step by step process builds its competition to an advanced level with a high degree of difficulty.
Like reining, IPHDA expects horses to be willingly guided with little or no apparent resistance.
Like horsemanship, IPHDA uses patterns to test precision and correct execution of maneuvers showing the riders ability to communicate with their horse.

it sounds kinda cool...
but I wouldn't do it because I don't do reining.

I'm attending the clinics right now but I will compete for sure next year, at both the V-shows and the live shows. The cool thing is you can attend the V-shows even if you are out of the area and with the price of gas you can't beat it. You can get a group of friends together and spend the day taping in your local area and then submit it on line.
