They basically help your legs from rubbing and there great if u ride in shorts (me). You can get a cheap pair for about $30 at PetSmart. Since you don't show, those will suffice. Oh, zipper on the outside.

I also have the Dublin, and got them from Horse.com. They are the zipper ones, and I love them. Only took a few rides to break them in. Let's face it, velco loses some of its stickiness in time, so I got the zipper, and am so glad I did!

They can be in all sizes, and the quality is usually pretty good in the suede ones, leather ones can get torn pretty easily. You can't wear them to compete but they are a great learning tool.

Ariats and Ovations come in XS S M L XL in kids and adults, along with tall sizes and short sizes =]

Good answers already. I have BIG calves and have a real problem finding half chaps that fit. The only site that has any that fit me and aren't $200 is Arete. They have normal sizes too .

I have 2 pairs one is the dublins in XL, I have large calves too! I can not remember the maker of the other pair. The Dublins hold up well and were about $30. Mine are zippered.
