Updated Photo's - '04 perlino colt

I finally was able to get out to my friends house with the camera to get some photo's of her new boy. She has officially bought him, and so far seems very happy.

She couldnt be there so he's not set up, or cleaned up. There was also an issue with the farrier and his apprentice, anyways the horse is extremely sore from a bad trim. So there's no action shots and I didnt make him stand nicely. I plan on getting better pics in a couple months when she has him going under saddle.

old thread > 2004 perlino stallion

new pics

So, is he what you expected? What are your thoughts now with bad, but new photo's?

Thanks!

When she first told me she was looking at a stud, I really didnt think that was a great idea... however I like him. He's actually a big sweety, and much nicer than I expected.

Were both young and stupid though, so outside opinions are good.

What a pretty boy! Looks to have really nice conformation too, from what I can tell. Is he ridden at all?

lol we all have our moments.

Actually his story is one heard all too often... 4 year old stallion, never handled, owner is afraid of him but loves having "babies".

My friend is a dictator when it comes to the horses and discipline, so he has quickly come around.

Overall presence is nice enough. He's not going to fall down and apart, LOL. But here is what I see in a critique of a stallion:

He's got a lot of body with good heart depth, nice sloped shoulder and good backline. His neck is tied in well on top, but is rather short with a thick throatlatch and set shallow in the chest. Head is not bad, but is a bit plain. Front legs are nice and nice pastern angle. He has a nice croup set good loin and upper hip, but it is in the depth of hip he is lacking and it ties into a weak stifle and too straight hind legs, with hocks set much higher than the knees even with his top line being nice and upright, with very upright hind pasterns. To my eye, his back end does not compliment his front end as it should. Even with good exercise, you are going to have trouble evening out because of the weak hip and stifle and leg set on the back.

For me personally, I would not use him as a stud, but could see a lot of potential as a nice gelding for a working horse.
