we didn't need one either. We went for a horse, and it just slipped our minds to tell Dad that we had to go back for a donkey

Yup...halter broke, bridled, saddle pad, bareback pad cinched up and mostly spray bottle trained day 1. Good with having his legs touched so he should be good for the farrier soon. Dentist coming on Tuesday to sort out his caps...by then all of his groundwork should be done and he should be ready to ride.

The biggest obstacle for this guy will be sacking out. He is very brave but, as you can imagine, hasn't seen very much. Either been on the range or at a holding facility so everything is new and scary for him at first.

Video of day one posted here: New BLM Adoptee...Aug. 11 with 1st day Video.

Thats amazing that you had all that done in oe day - thats more than most pro trainers that work with the BLM. Did he have any handling before you got him? Or was he a repo by the BLM?

Nope...not a *repo*. Never been handling before. Trust me...after the first day I double checked! They told me most people would die to get a horse as gentle as he is...but they have plenty of wild ones. We had no way of knowing he would be this gentle. Some people say we got lucky...he's not really a challenge like I wanted but I do know we got a good one
