Update on Cowboy

Well, the vet finally came today to look at Cowboy's legs. See my thread about Cowboy getting caught in the cattle guard. There is still swelling so he can't tell exactly what kind of damage was done to ligaments or tendons. He said the skin would start to slough off down to the bone

. YUCK!! He put him on antibiotics and said to continue the bute. He said when the skin comes off and the bone is exposed to call him back and he will show me how to wrap it to keep the bone protected from infection. Right now he wants it left unwrapped so it will drain. There was a large blister like area that he lanced and drained.

Cowboy is putting weight on it and hobbling around his enclosure so I guess that's a good sign! He certainly hasn't lost his appetite either. Poor boy! He's got a long recovery ahead of him.
