Today he is supposed to be stalled. Tomorrow he will be in the turn out (90x50) and allowed to move around a bit more and day three he will get worked several times a day for about 10 to 15 min to keep the swelling down and allow the drainage to continue. let' hope it goes that easy. As soon as he stops have studdy behavior and I feel the hot wire will be enough for him he'll go out with the other gelding, and then once the weaning is done they all be together (fingers crossed)
Aww, bless your heart, you did the right thing! I am glad he came through it okay.

He will have such a blast playing with the other horses!

Just keep in mind it may never be possible to turn him out with mares...some studs and geldings for that matter cannot go in with mares. I usually make it my rule of thumb to keep them seperated...makes life easier.

I'll bet he can't wait to be out with a gelding buddy! Fingers crossed for you that everything goes well with his healing process

Thanks, I know what you mean about the mare and geldings but at least they should be able to share a fence line, and Itchy and Pudgy have been together for the last year with no problem so I'm keeping my fingers cross that buddy will be able to slip back in the herd. He has pastured the off season with Pudgy and the breeding season with Itchy for the last 18 months so... hope hope hope.

He's doing fine, I worked him earlier ( I cried like a baby, stupid hormones (mine not his)). He's doing better then me. LOL

Actually, he has a bit of swelling, but the drainage is good and he's eating and drinking fine and still had enough energy to call the mare. (Oh oh oh I have someone interested in the mare finally, they are going to take her for 500.00 after we wean Piglet)

All is pleasant in the yard. Thanks for asking.

Glad to hear that things are well and sounds normal for him. A bit of swelling is nothing to be overly concerned about... just watch it... as long as it does not suddenly swell or change drastically in a larger fashion I would not be concerned.

I bet by this time next year you will have zero regrets about it. He will always be your beautiful boy... nutz or not.

LOL Mary, you should read the ranting regrets I had earlier on the chat forum. Stupid hormones! LOL
