Update on Howelling Corona his first race pic's

Jasper came in 5th place and got his ROM his first time out with a Speed index of 86, not many horses get their ROM their first time out some never get it, the horses who beat him had already raced before. For one horse it was his 3rd race. he was just a neck away from third place. The problem was....he was always trained to run 220 yards, the race was 330 yards, once he reached 220 yards he started to slow down thinking it was done, so the jockey started to use the whip then he caught up with the pack, but there just was not enough ground before the finish line to make up the yards he lost. there is only a neck difference from the third place horse and the 5th place horse (Jasper). So I am very pleased so is the trainer. Thanks for your support everyone and yes I got pictures!!!!

I can imagine that watching a horse you raised and watched grow up run in a race would be VERY EXCITING!

He is a glorious animal. Congratulations and thank you for keeping HGS in the loop.

Endurogirl, He was in the outside position in the 220 9,10 spot.

Thought you might like to see the photo finish and placings, He was not far from the money for a first race, he is in the second row sandwiched in the middle. all of the top three it was at least their 2nd race, the winner it was his 5th race so they had experience on their side.

One more race next month then its a 6 month vacation before he races again at Remington in Oklahoma. We are so proud of him enjoy the video of the race.
