If you have a fairly simple/obvious password, I strongly suggest you change it to something difficult to hack/guess.

We have had several hacked password attempts at the HGS horse forums lately. Once an account password is guessed wrong more than a few times, members receive a notice of the IP address of the computer entering the wrong password. Please make sure you forward that notice to a moderator via PM. We also have IP addresses for every log in, registration and post made.

We have already collected substantial information on the person(s) attempting to hack accounts (at least once successful). It is a felony in the US (10 yrs imprisonment) and in most countries -- and law enforcement authorities have shown great effort in international cooperation. HGS will provide authorities with relevant IP addresses and any additional useful information. Even "anonymous" services are usually forced to give up information in criminal cases.

We will continue to do our utmost to protect the members of our HGS Horse Forum family.

I just wanted to add that having your account hacked will generally not be a defense. I want to be reasonable, but if you have a password simple enough for someone to guess and you get hacked, you will likely be permanently banned -- so please change them now if they are obvious.

Anyone who knows anything about the person(s) attempting this needs to come forward to me via pm immediately. It is highly illegal in virtually every country now (worse than robbing at gunpoint in the US). Conspiracy in the commission of CyberCrime and someone knowing and not coming forward would be considered an accomplice and guilty as well.
