I like it when they have the feathers, personally. It makes their feet look flashier as they do their movements...

However, it's not what you want in dressage.

Really? They place them lower if they have feathers, yet are awesome in the movements?

What a great thread! Hmmm let me look around for some neat horses and I'll get back to you! I do have a personal story about a unique breed though. My next door neighbor had thos GORGEOUS 16.2 hand light bay TB/Hano gelding, just gorgeous, the perfect looking hunter in training. Well she went to a local schooling show and showed against a mule in the 3ft amature hunter class. Her horse didn't have the cleanest round, misjudging a few distances and lost to the mule, who was terrific. She was FURIOUS but I laughed for hours after hearing it. Now anytime she gets to high and mighty about her horse I remind her of the time "That Mule" beat her

That's not exactly what I was saying. The feather movement will do one of two things. Both would be bad. One, it will overemphasize the classic draft movement which is not what you want in dressage. Or, it will hide the correct dressage movement if the horse happens to have it. So all in all, it would be best to not have the feathers either way. It will either bring out the bad or hide the good.
