| Junior Member | Hey..I havent been on this forum since I was 16 and I am 19 now.. well anyways , my mare DAKOTA BRIGADE is in foal to our stud LENAS MAGIC ROMEO, but they were kind of a mistake as he got out of his stud pen when she came in heat, we just found out 3 months ago ( if that ) that she was even bred. Anywho, my QUESTION check out the signs and maybe you can give me an approx. time that YOU think she may plop that Smart Little Lena baby out for me.. BY THE WAY SHES 5 AND MAIDEN!~~thats why we are nervous..its personally my first maiden,, and shes my BABY so I'm really scared 1st sign-small bagging getting larger everyday 2nd-loose hind end 3rd-private area seems to change shape (longer) 4th-belly hanging really low and pointed.. these are all just happening within the last month about..we also have her 14 year old mother and she bags about 2 months before she foals, but I do believe some maiden mares can go before without that many signs.. guess it all depends on the mare too?>>> also, what do you think we will have? sire is a black and white minimal overo..his sire was a palamino (solid) his dam was a loud black and white overo Dakotas mom (Pattis Storm) is a chestnut and white Tobiano and her sire is a black and white Tobiano.. Give me your guesses..>hehe Kayla and awaiting momma Kotey (Dakota Brigade) thank you for looking.. |

| Senior Member+ | Well, the vet can palpate and do an ultrasound to tell you the size of the baby. That can help you determine when she may have been bred, what does the vet say? Oh, and congratulations on your upcoming, although unexpected baby P.S. If you "go advanced" you can insert the photos into your original post!

| Senior Member+ | If she is showing all 4 signs you stated, then she is getting close. If you know when your stud got out take 25 days off that date and that is about when she will have the baby the following year. Like if he got out March 26th then the baby would be due about March 1.
