Ultrasound therapy for tendon tears?

Anyone out here have experience (or heard from someone who did), using the portable ultrasound therapy units on horse tendon tears? Any feedback?

Thanks,
Skyla

Ace had an ultrasound. It was useful to a point, but the tear ended up being inside her hoof so she needed an MRI as ultrasounds are blocked by the hoof wall.

I'm talking about the therapy, not the sonic (pictures). The type of US the Chiropractor or Therapists use to help healing.

Thanks though.

If done properly it can make a world of difference (if not you'll have a world of problems). My old hunter had tendonitis and we did US therapy on her with fantastic results. Although we were focusing on healing tendons, we did multiple joint areas that were inflammed and showing onsets of arthritis and I was uber pleased with the increased mobility after the therapy.

I highly recommend it pending this is something your vet stands behind.

I recommend GameReady. Removes inflammation, relieves pain, reduces scar tissue, speeds healing. It blows ultrasound (and most other treatments) out of the water when it comes to healing soft tissue or tendon-related injuries.

Theraputic Ultrasound can be very very useful. It's no guarantee, but under the right circumstances, which is fairly individual, it's well worth trying.

IF only I had a bottomless wallet...sigh. Still play the lottery from time to time.

We use shockwave therapy often and it's works on some and not others. Depends what your trying to treat. Tendons and ligments I would suggest Stem Cell Therapy http://www.vet-stem.com/equine/

Unfortunately I do NOT have thousands of dollars, not even a remote chance of ever having that. The ultrasound is the one thing I can do, and was hoping to hear from those who have had experience with it. My unit will be here tomorrow, so away we go....go bad or otherwise. I had serious shoulder surgery so will be trying it out on "me" too.
