Thumbs down Uhhh, can make you hair turn white

What are somethings that can make your hair turn white? Things people say to fix the horses problem, and not only that, but believe it fullheartedly.

Take for example my old boss. He is a great guy. More of a father to me than my actual dad. But a somethings he says about working with horses can be enough to turn anyone's hair white.

I showed him the bit I got for Poco, a racing D-Ring snaffle with copper rollers. Told him i was working on her stopping issues, and what not. he then informed me that was too soft of a bit and that I need to get myself a nice twisted wire curb. I dont know about you, But when I ordered a bit, and they sent me the twisted wire version, I about blew up! I do not advocate the use of any type of twisted wire. None, zip, nada.

The time I got bucked off, he told me that I should have gotten back on (never mind the part I could barely walk. I still have pain in my hip from that episode.) Ridden her back down, saddled her up and run her down. OR I should have gone and tied her head so tight to the nearest tree, so she wouldnt be able to move an inch

He then told me, next time I go down there to get a rope, wrap it around her girth and get it snug tight, saddle her, bridle her up and run the reins down her chest, under the forlegs, through the rope and up to my hands, and that if she acts up and tries to buck, to yank up on the reins and bring her head to her chest, and bring her down to her knees. Called it the "Oklahoma Tie Down"

I showed him that bitless bridle i got, said Wont ever work, I need me a twisted wire.

I saw him after my visit, he sidled up quickly and asked me how it went. I said it went good, she didnt act up no more than usual. And that she only threw her head when the bridle rode up her face a bit. he then asked me if she bucked or looked like it. I told him nope. Not even a twitch in the ear. he then walked away confused. He had previously told me that once a horse starts bucked they will for ever and always do it until you take them out in really scrubby, brushy area, with that "Oklahoma Tie Down."

He is a really nice guy.... Truely is.... but yea i think the horse topic should be left from further conversations.... Even if he starts most of it.

Yeah, I heard a lot of weird training practices during my time. Just ignore them no matter who is telling you about it (even if you have a lot of respect for him/her in other things).

Just one thing, with my old boss...I was picking her horses feet out (because she never did) and she started screaming at me. I ask her what's up, and she goes your going to hurt them! You never dig out the hoof! So I asked..well then, where are you supposed to use <the hoof pick>...she says, just along the hoof wall!

Oh dear god. I will make sure to listen to that advice.

God...the Oklahoma Tie Down...hmm, do you think it will work when my horse rears up??!!

"Oklahoma Tie Down"?Lord, the things people say....

And you'll "hurt" the horse cleaning out its hoof? Well, how are you supposed to get the gunk out of their feet otherwise?
