Two foals born one day apart. Pictures of Foal #1 on OP. Scary delivery on post 13

I am on mare watch tonight with another lady. We have two mares. One was due March 15th, one is due today. I go to the farm at 11:00PM and am on watch from 11:00-6:30, then catch an hour of sleep, then get up to do chores.

I am very excited. I have never seen a live birth, only the tail end of births on mare stare. I will be aiding in stimulating the foal, checking placenta, and imprinting. So excited.

The mare that was due the 15th is this girl

and she is bred to this guy

This is going to be a stunning foal.

The girl due today is this gal

awful old picture, but thats her.
she is bred to this guy

This also will be a stunning baby.
That mare, and that stallion produce...THIS! The Minstrado's Infiniti.

I have my camera charged and ready to go, and the mares both have wax, are dropped and leaking milk. The babies will come tonight, we are sure of it.

I will update when I get home tomorrow. Wish them luck that it is a safe, easy delivery. We lost a foal last year. It was stillborn, it was devestating, so we do not want to have to go through that again.

Gorgeous horses - both moms and dads. Enjoy. Hope all goes smoothly.

Thanks. So the second mare had her baby at 9:00PM last night. A little colt. I have a TON of pictures of him. He is spunky and has attitude! He found his legs today in the arena, so I have a video of him cantering and trotting. Will post when I upload them. The other mare we think will go tonight. I wont be there tonight, but am going out tomorrow for chores in the morning.

yup, the one is spunky, happy and HUGE! he is such a big baby. The other hasn't yet had hers, but probably will tonight. This baby born last night had his first leading lesson today. He is so smart, a very quick learner. Pics are uploading as we speak
