Twin Thoroshire foals born

A friend has a mare by the TB Country Side, and is able to keep up with a lot of mares bred to him and foals produced. The latest is TWIN foals born of a Shire mare on 5/10

Warning - major cute factor here!

They are the cutest foals ever!! They seem to be about the same height and weight also. The only other horses I knew that had twins both had one larger and one smaller one.

OMG, that IS cuteness overload! I noticed too, that the babies seem to be very similar in height/weight...wonder if it had something to do with mom being draft, and having more room for them?

They're so adorable~! The mare looks like a really good, attentive mom in all the pics, but the babies are really tiny compared to her. I'm just amazed that they both survived and look healthy.

Wow, it is highly unsual for live twin foals to be born! I would suspect that a draft breed bred to something smaller, like a TB would have a better chance of surviving twins since they are just physically larger, more room for the fetus' to develop properly etc... I wonder out of the limited number of surviving twin foalings that have occured how many are out of draft breeds???
