Tux..very pregnant..Update Had the Baby!

This is the mare that lost her filly last year and I have been very watchful this year. Her estimated due date was 5-12-07. Does not surprise me she is still hanging on but today she is acting very strange. She is usually one who wants to be outside but today wanted back in the barn. I have been pulling her and the other preg. mare in at night due to cold temps and thunderstorms. (we had snow Sat. night and Sun. morning)
Anyway, thought I would post a couple pics and see if anyone thought it could be soon? BTW..she was clean when I let her out this morning, first thing she did was roll in the mud! She is still eating, pacing some and is sweaty, but that could be the humidity.

I'd say she will foal within the next week or two. Does she usually foal on due date?
Also who is she bred too? she looks a nice mare.

Last year she was very late and the filly was stillborn. First time she has ever lost a foal. The breeder guarantees live birth so I was able to decide whether or not to go ahead and try again. The vet felt it was just one of those things that happens, and it was a very large filly. So with the vet ok, we decided to give it another shot as the filly was a beautiful little one.
This is the stud she is bred to..last year we got a colt from solid paint mare and this stud, he turned out to be a really good lookin' tobiano also. As for the mare now, I am hoping for the best. It is very difficult to see any foal movement other than some rippling..best I can come up with to describe.Have her in barn again tonight, supposed to get storms.

Is her virgina smooth as a babies bottom and slightly swollen...no wrinkles.
If you are unsure gets some pics., of the virgina.
Also does her rump feel like jelly...all soft, specially near the tail.
Has her nipples got a waxy tip, or is she dripping.
Is she looking at her belly or getting up and down more than normal.
If she has most of these signs then she is very close to foaling....would really keep an eye on her.
If you would like further information just ask.

She has most signs mentioned. I am sure I am worrying for nothing, I just felt so bad for her last year when she lost her filly. This is it for her, no more babies so I was hoping all would go well. Daughter went and checked her a bit ago, and I will take a look for more signs when I turn them out. It was odd last year though...we had been putting her in a different barn 2-3 weeks prior to her "due" date and when she ended up a month over, we left her out in pasture and that is the night she had foal. She had always foaled in the barn with previous owner. I hope it had nothing to do with being in because our weather has been cold and wet. She is used to this barn and is not alone when she goes in, maybe that will make a difference.

How is she today???
You may be worrying for nothing, but better to be safe than sorry.
You sound like a caring owner, and I hope all goes well for both you and the mare.
Remember if you are worried....phone your vet, you sound like the person who would do that anyway.
Keep us updated.

Still no baby but I am sure I saw a bit of a kick this morning. I have talked to the vet, he was supposed to be out today but called last night and said he would not be able to make it. An emergency at another farm...he is the only large animal vet in our area. Anyway, he asked how Tux was and said he is not concerned at this point, understands my wanting her checked and is sorry he can't get here but feels she is just taking her time. I think she is trying to drive me batty!! So now for the vet I would be waiting until Tuesday of next week for a check-up but can call him in emergency situation.
I just want this all to go well as I stated before, this is her last baby and she is such a lovely gal!
I didn't notice any change in appearance as of this morning either..I will update more later.

Sounds like your getting close! But you havent mentioned anything about her milk, which is one of THE best, if not the best, indication of coming foaling.

What color/consistency is it??

I advise EVERYONE to get a milk testing kit. They are priceless if you ask me, very helpful!! And saves you alot of sleepless nights. My mare tested in the morning that she'd have it that day/night, and that night like clockwork BAM, baby!
