Turnout Boots

I'm looking for some turnout boots (use on hind legs) for my gelding as he has quite the habit of brushing and rubbing his hind legs together.

Any suggestions- styles or brands? I've heard some good things about the Woof line, but would love to hear any other opinions!

There are some new types of boots you can purchase that are spefically for turnout. I have heard about them in Europe but are realativly new so they may be hard to find. I know when a girls horse was recovering from a bad incident with a cattle guard she used polo wraps in the field but I know I wouldn't do that. I like woof boots they are good quality and last quite a while. I know some people use splint boots but you need to be careful about the boots. You have many things to watch out for such as
~mud
~sliding of the boots
~excessive wetness
You have to be really careful with turnout boots and such. For me the risks out weigh the benefits. I have always heard that brushing is caused from unbalenced horses. But its all up to you.

If you like the Woof boots, try the Dover Pro Sport boots in Neoprene instead of fleece. I have 4 sets (front and rear for two horses) and am very happy with them. They hose off easily and seem to stay put nicely. They're also usually on sale

I think those are called EquiChaps, I've been curious about them for my gelding as he gets bedsores easily but in weird spots.

I like the Dover Sport Boots too, though mine have the fleece They seem to hold up well though I haven't had them all that long. If you just need them for brushing you don't need anything as expensive as the SMBs. If you just want basic, long-lasting splint boots, I had a pair of the Devon Aire splints for YEARS that held up super well, but I gave them away when they didn't fit my new horse.

I've seen them on sale for less than $20 for sure.

DO stay away from the Roma products. My Roma open fronts, ankle boots and bell boots were not worth half of what I paid for them!

My guy just gets a little carried away and often slides all over the place when the ground is slick (seems like he's still learning to use his legs sometimes! but he's barely 2- I'll forgive him for now ). He's quite the clutz, so I'm looking for something that cleans really well if they get muddy.

I think I'm, going to look into the Woofs some more. Does anyone know where the Devon Aires are sold in Canada, or if you can only order online? Thanks everyone so far!
