Howdy. My next dressage show has a theme of "tropical heat wave." Aside from boots and helmet, it's "anything goes." I'm thinking of a costume or something for myself and Fire.

My trainer already thought of the idea of using some hawaiian leis tied to my reins and browband, but that's the only thing I can think of. I have a pink and yellow tie-dye saddle pad that I can use, so I'm thinking of sticking with the pink and yellow for the most part. I'm thinking of getting some pink/yellow polos as well.

Any other ideas? I never thought I would wear a costume at a dressage show but...hehe. It should be fun.

I'm wearing pink/yellow tank top and tan breeches because I can't really afford brand new clothes for one show. :P

I bought a bag of silk flowers to stick to my helmet or something, a dozen leis for random things, and a grass skirt. I'm thinking of banding the smaller leis into his mane, tying the grass skirt (or part of it) into his tail, putting the leis on the reins, and just looking goofy in general haha.

I thought about a coconut bra but that might be inappropriate. LOL.

You should wear one of those printed tourist button-downs on top of your tank top. xD

I like the idea of grass skirt in his tail... if he'll let you, maybe get a big straw sunhat on his head? That'd be cute. One time for a costume glass, one girl put a blonde yarn wig over her horses' ears. I think they were Pippy Longstocking or something.

You should find some hoof-safe paint or colored hoof oil and do his feet in blue and green, or if you're a good painter put some palm trees on his hooves. That'd be so cool

Haha, that's a cute idea about the hooves. I looked at some glitter hoof polish but it's so expensive and I'd never use it any other time, haha. I don't know if he would approve of wearing a hat, though. It would undoubtedly be adorable though!

Instead of a hat how about a sun visor. You could put a couple of stitches through it and round your browband to keep it in place.

Don't forget the white zinc stick for your nose and across the cheeks.

I wish you could borrow my trailer, I bought it from my friend and she put black flames decals on the bottom!! it would go perfect!!

What about putting the grass skirt type of thing on the edges of your saddle pad?
Or attaching the coconuts to your stirrups?
You could always put like a towel on his rump and get one of those hat umbrellas for your helmet :P

Hahaha those ideas are cute. I ordered a bunch of "Luau" stuff so we will see what we come up with. The show is the 19th, by the way.
