Trimming.

I was looking at my horse's hooves the other day and I am really not happy with them. They are all a little under slung and I would like to see their heels backed up more then they are....plus my belgians hooves still look horrible. I have contacted a few of the local barns regarding trimmers/farries and no one is taking on new clients. There is one hopeful, but he is in Tailand right now so I have to wait to hear.

Anyway, I am interested in taking some courses on barefoot trimming. I know allot about the hoof but I would want some solid courses before I go messing around. This would be mainly for the benefit of trimming my OWN horses...I dont see making a career out of it.

Does ANYONE know of any barefoot trimming courses? Possibly in Canada? I know Kwantlan College has a farrier program, 9 months in Langley but I would rather specialize in the barefoot trimming...

Any ideas would be helpful! Thanks so much.

If you don't mind a little Strasser styled trimming, Sabine Kells is up there.

I know of one AANHCP (Mustang trim) PT that's in BC.

Also, Jaime Jackson offers clinics at his place in Arkansas. I'm heading out there this weekend, actually, and if you're interested, I'll let you know how it goes when I get back.

I think there is a KC LaPierre barefoot trimming clinic in New Hampshire in June sometime. Check the calendar on www.equinesite.com . It ought to be there!

Sorry, click on "Show Schedules", and then on "New Hampshire". It's June 17-19.
