TRF Horses in VA not well taken care of!?!

This weekend I went to James Madion's Montpelier in Orange, Virginia. There is also a Thoroughbred Retirement Foundation farm there. While I was there I saw some of the horses standing by the fence in one of the pastures so I went to check them out and give them a pat or a scratch... Well they were in good weight and looked to be healthy... their manes looked like they haven't been brushed in forever and they had a lot of cuts and nicks (not too surprised by the cuts since they are in a herd in the pasture), BUT their hooves were horrible!! It looked like they hadn't been trimmed in months... like 6 months or more!! They were flared, chipped and cracked. The one horse even appeared to be in pain on his right front! Now, maybe these horses were horses that were companion only animals, but still their hoof care should be better than that, right??

Should I contact the Thoroughbred Retirement Foundation's main office?? What would you do??

I think get some pictures and then contact the main office. If they wont do anything, then you have the evidence to take matters further!
