Wow, that's just sick. That's just awesome of the vet to rip into them like that. Too bad the poor horses had to learn the lesson for these people

Me an my best friend halter then bridle, so when we want to stop and tie up the horses on the trail, we take out are lead ropes and snap them to the halters and tie them to a nice tree or hicthing post. RARELY do I Tie with the riens and bridle.

Unfort it is not a "inhumane thing"... they are not abusing the horses in any way. So the Humane society can't do a thing about it

BW.. i have done that, but you know the first time I did that my horse spooked when I walked up to it... pulled back, so I try not to do that unless it is really necessary or a quick jump off to get something....

My aunt has done it but not with the horses tacked. Usually after a rodeo a few ppl go to a place and have some food and talk about the scores and such. As long as the horse has plenty of room to move I dont see any harm in it. My aunts horses dont seem to mind and they do like watching the ppl walk by lol.

BW... man I am a slow typer... ditto your words in above post!!!!

Also want to say that at least now they might feel they need to contact you to get the halters back, SO maybe you can re-suggest if they need help you can help them!!!!

Oh and also want to say I have eaten while my horses are in the trailer... allows them to stand and sleep/relax while you are stopped.

My dad hauls horses for a living... he stops all the time to eat, allows them to get sea legs back, fills their water buckets and hays them. Allows them to potty break from going down the road. Some horses won't bathroom in a moving trailer. He also catches some zzzz's when needed to allow them to do the same when he has a long trip. Just as long as it isn't hot... he opens other windows etc... making sure they are comfortable, stopping mostly at night to rest!

Yeah, OwnerOfWillow, my friends will do that. The horses will actually sleep in the trailer while the eat.

If it isnt a hot/cold day I do not see how it is differant than hauling your horse several hours for a show/rodeo. I do not agree with leaving a horse trailered in extreme heat/cold but if the weather is nice and your horse is comfortable I see no problem in it.
