As the title says, there is a scavenger hunt/trail ride/poker run in Conneaut Ohio on Saturday May 13, 2006. I'm pretty sure myself (and Swayze) and a group of friends are going to go. If anyone else is interested, here is the information. It's for a good cause...a fundraiser to support the Ashtabula County Humane Society. If anyone decides to go, let me know and hopefully we can meet! ASHTABULA COUNTY HUMANE SOCIETY'S SECOND ANNUAL TRAIL RIDE, POKER RUN, AND SCAVENGER HUNT FUNDRAISER When: May 13, 2006, 8:30 am to 4:30 pm, rain or shine. Registration is from 8:30 am until 11:30 am, with all riders dispatched by noon. Groups will be dispatched in 10-15 minute intervals. Where: Conneaut Creek Stables located at 5517 Hatches Corners Road, off of State Route 7, just south of Interstate 90 and St Rt 7 exit in Conneaut Ohio. Parking: Open field parking. Water available for horses. Food: Hamburgers, hot dogs, chips, baked goods, and drinks will be available. Restroom facilities on grounds. Entry Fee: $15.00 per rider. Those who reregistered by May 8th will be entered in a special drawing. ***Preregistration is greatly appreciated!*** Make checks payable to: Ashtabula County Humane Society Mail your entries to: Kim Hills, 4771 Stan-Kell Rd. Conneaut OH 44030 For more info contact Kim Hills at (440) 645-7277 or email at rsrhiannon@yahoo.com Divisions Individual Adult Teams: 2,3, or 4 members Mixed Teams (adults and juniors) 2,3,4 members-no age requirement. All participants must sign a waiver at the site of the ride. Parent or guardian must sign for juniors Awards Ribbons for 1st through 5th place for each rider in a division If you must leave the ride early, you are responsible for collecting any awards you may win. Pease make arrangements with friends to take them for you if you can't. Ride description 1. open field parking. Water available for horses. 2. Registration/information located at Ride Management area 3. Guestimated distance 2-2.5 hours at a walk without the obstacle stops 4. Terrain is wooded trails with a water crossing 5. Obstacles- there will be 5 judged obstacles, mostly natural, some working situations and a "challenge". 6. When you are ready to ride out, you will be given information on the ride route, poker run cards, the self-judged obstacles, and the scavenger hunt items. 7. Ride schedule: Sign in table opens at 8:30 am and closes at 11:30 am Horses will be dispatched starting at 9am and ending at noon Refreshments will be available from 11am until sold out This entire event, awards and all should be finished by 4:30 pm. *Please note* Although this is a rain or shine event, we reserve the right to cancel in case of severe inclement weather. You may call the following number after 6:45 am on the day of the ride for conformation (440) 224-0817 Ride Rules 1. Every rider must sign a waiver form. Juniors must have a parent or guardian sign. 2. No dogs allowed at this event 3. No horseplay, running or racing at any time 4. Use of alcoholic beverages or controlled substances is prohibited. 5. Littering will not be tolerated. 6. Once you have checked in at the registration area, go to the dispatch point to receive a departure time to start your trail ride. Horses will be dispatched at 10-15 minute intervals. Please check in at the dispatch point once your team has completed the ride so everyone can be accounted for. 7. The last team departure will be at noon. All horses must be on the trail by then. 8. Safe riding practices are required: *All riders must use saddles. No bareback pads or bareback riding *All riders must wear long pants and boots or high topped shoes with a heel. * All riders must wear helmets 9. Excessive speed will be penalized. Take your time, enjoy the trails, and practice safe horsemanship. 10. No double riding. 11. Each team will have an entry number 12. Riders intentionally straying off marked trails to "explore" will be disqualified. 13. Any rider caught removing or changing trail markers will be disqualified. 14. No stallions permitted at the ride. |

Ohhhhhhhh, that sounds like fun. If I were home then I would go, but somehow I qualified for all kinds of stuff for track so I am at school through the end of the month. Have fun with Swayze and take lots of pictures (is Bugsy going as well? ) Miss you

Hi Emily! That's good you're doing so well in track! Bummer you're coming home later, but still glad you are doing well. No, Bugsy's not going, although I think he would do just fine. He's been such a good boy for the last several months. You can't even imagine. Swayze and I are only going if I can find one more person to go. Nobody from up at the barn can go and while I think Swayze would be just fine by himself, I don't want to push my luck. Gotta run...talk to you later! *miss you!*
