Touching Her Ear!!!

WHY WON'T DUSTY LET ME TOUCH HER EAR?!?!?

Do any of you have this problem? It's just her left ear, she lets me touch the right one.

As you can imagine, this makes it QUITE HARD to bridle her...I don't get it!
I've had it checked, there's no mites or anything in it...

How can I train her to let me touch it?
HELP!!

Are you positive there isn't an ear infection...although uncommon, it's certainly possible (especially considering that it's that one ear).

If not, is there pain? Check pressure points around the ear...particularly the base. My horse was just recently diagnosed with having a great deal of pain at the base of his ears.

Good luck to you!

has her ear ever been twisted or anything like that? i would hae her ear checked out. if there is nothing wrong. what you can do is lightly touch or rub the ear. i had one that was touchy with her ears that i had to work with. what i did was rub her ears over and over until it didn't bother her any more, it took me a few days for her to let me really mess with them.

one of my horses when he was a baby someone twisted his ear and he was really sensitive for a while. Eveentually we got him to let us bridle him ans such but he still doesnt like it touched =[

my pony Misty Mae was abused and a "trainer " twisted her ear too and she has gotten a LOT better but she still doesnt like it very much

What we have done is we giver treats as we touch their ear and the get used to the touching as they get the treats =]

LLike stated before make sure you rule out any pain beofre anything =]

hope this helps

Could be an infection, but my best guess would be she has some aural plaque in there. If you can have a look, see if there are any white crusties on the inside.
