My daughter talked me into taking a late ride tonight. We left our farm around 7:30pm and didnt return until about 10:30. I let her ride my old paint mare, who is 20 and still going strong, and I took my thoroughbred mare for her first ride into town!! It also turned into her first nite ride!!! She did so good tonight. She didnt spook about anything and seemed to enjoy being the center of attention!! I am so proud of her. I would have never guessed she came to my farm straight from the racetrack!! She is so level headed and pretty calm!! Her only quirk is that she doesnt want to stand for very long. She gets antsy unless I get off and stand next to her. Nonetheless, she did so well. I was kinda afraid it would be too much for her to handle at one time and she fooled me once again. Im just totally amazed by this mare!! I thought that once the sun went down, she would be upset by the trash cans and such along the road, then I really thought she would come unglued when this little kid I know rode his bike right up next to her to pet her before I could stop him!! And the last thing we dealt with was the railroad tracks, which she has only crossed 2 times before would cause us some grief because we crossed them after dark, but she just put her pretty head down and looked where she was stepping and went right on across like she was a seasoned trail horse and had done that a million times before!! Any how, just thought I would share my riding adventures of the evening with you all. Hope u enjoyed the story, sorry, no pics to go with it, I forgot my camera. RENEE

That is soo great!!! CONGRATS!!! I love how versatile thoroughbreds are, it really shows their willingness and desire to please, plus their showman's attitude

no, she came from a good friend of mine who is a trainer at a somewhat local racetrack. He wanted her to have a good home, and he wasnt sure he could find one where she would be happy and since i had worked with her and we bonded at the track, he called me and asked me if I would want her ( I kept teasing him that she should just go home with me cause she loved me so much..he wasnt selling her at that time..she was still racing) and my immeadiate answer was yes and how much and how soon could he bring her?!?! I asked him if he was still wanting $1500 for her and he said that he wanted me to have her so all he wanted from me was $600. Any one else and it would be $1500 firm.

yeah. he was offered $3000 for her while she was racing and he turned it down. Then when he did decide to sell, he was asking $1500, was offered more than that by some ppl he knew who wanted to use her for dressage, and he turned it down too. Then like I said, he called me and wanted me to take her and offered her to me for the 600. She has awesome bloodlines. Her lines include Man O' War, War Admiral, and Seabiscuit. And from Agentina, her grandsire is Forli who won the Argentine Quadruple Crown in 1966!!!
