Exclamation It took 1 year and 8 days gestation ... we are done!!!

It's a boy! I will start a new thread to have pictures up top Sophie finally did it! born 4/19

*UPDATE on PICTURES* and post #25.. we have wax (very small though)

small wax picture

4/14. See that very small yellow dot on her nipple. I about went ape when I seen that. It's more progress for me. It's weird though because that is her smaller teet. Her other side has gotten a lot bigger and you can see it from her backside. Very weird.

Still no foal. This waiting game is no fun. How long do I wait before taking her to the vet. I hope all is going well with her and that this foaling is fast, easy and productive, as in healthy foal and mamma. I got some pictures tonight. I washed her udders up and did a really awful french braid . Practice makes perfect right?! She's really been loving the attention and has really mellowed out. We will see what she's like when she has this foal though...

I haven't been to see Sophie yet. She is still looking very pregnant. Her bag hasn't changed much. I was hoping to have a full moon foal but as you can see, no foal.

4/15 Not sure why it turned out so fuzzy but this was the only side shot besides the one I took when the camera didn't flash

I don't know how long...have you called the vet? I am now curious and will be keeping an eye on your threads... Good luck, sending prayers for a safe and "Soon" foal.

Solsalia, as I have learned for the week if you notice anything off from her and she seems in any pain out of the ordinary call the vet don't go through what I have! Annie's edema went from nothing to full blown in less than 24 hrs. She's going to be a milk pwerhouse it looks though maybe she'll share some with AJ?

That's so good Annie is doing better. I'm glad to hear that. Thanks Cyan for prayers. This is very worriesome. It is a good idea though to have the vet contacted. She's actually been a lot better at this new barn. She just seems more content. I definately will be watching her though for any signs. Oh I hope she has her baby soon and get this over with!

It is not common but also not unheard of, for some mares to go 13 months with pregnancies. She still looks like she has a bit to go. Maybe she just doesn't want to foal with anyone around . If you're concerned I'd speak to the vet.

I would say from the look of her teats that she's not quite there yet. They are working on it though! When the dimple around the nipple goes away, it should be in the next 24hours. I logged all the signs with Ruby, and the change in the consistancy of the milk was the best.

She had white crystals on her teats the day before, and the nipples were letting down(the dimple ring disappearing). That evening her milk had gone from from pale yellow watery, to nearly opaque white and whammo baby.

I used the Foal Watch milk testing kit. It was right on. She tested 350ppm calcium and 7 hours later she foaled. I'm a big fan of the kit, my vet is too. (I've got a 12 tests left if anyone wants it. It expires in 8 months, so I won't be able to use it next year.)

Good luck with your mare!

The foal determines cooking time, not the mare. She'll go when she's ready I think the record is 434 days. Has she been dripping any milk? What color? Are you testing it?

I called the vet today and she wanted me to bring her in to look and check on her. As of tomorrow April 11th she will be officially one year pregnant. That was her last breed date. I've heard not to worry till they are a year and two weeks over due. Her edema has gotten better since she's been closer and I can be there longer to walk her. I wasn't able to do much today since my husband is gone seeing family. He did take Sebastian with him but I still have Klarissa and of course Xavier.

I haven't tried to milk her yet, there is no waxing. As you can see with the pictures there is no wax and her bag isn't full like most mares that I've seen to foal soon. She could prove us wrong though. Pregnancies are all different. My Vet says she thinks she still has a while to go but wants her in their office within 5 days if she doesn't have the foal by then.

Before I brought her in she was walking in and out of her stall, kicked her belly at the vet office. The vet did a palpatation (sp?) and said she felt a foot and most likely the head. When we brought her back she went and laid down flat! That was a bit scary. She soon got up and stood by her stall door and was shifting her back feet and I kept seeing her lift her tail twitching on her rear. She also pushed a little bit of runny poo out. After awhile she seemed to settle down and was real interested in dinner. I'm going to check on her before I head to bed. My husband is still not home so I will have to take my two little ones with me. At least they are sleeping right now.

I really wish this would get over and go fine so I can relax. At this point I just with I would have bought horse/foal I wanted! Argh
