Too Much excitment at Work!! :(

This afternoon at work, I was coming from the back office and I noticed a young boy on the sidewalk all bent over and wobbly. So I went to the front doors and asked the lady with them if they needed help. She told me yes, that this child had just been beaten up (in broad daylight on the Main street of town it's a busy street). So I told her to bring him in and I yelled for a co-worker to call the police, but as he was trying to get into the building he just wasn't steady at all, so I called for an ambulance. Then to top it off the kid that beat him up came back. So The lady that helped the hurt kid made him come into the office too. Well as it all turned out the young boy was beaten up because the other kid stole his IPOD...OHHH I was furious . So we got the hurt boys phone numbers and I started calling parents, but only got voice mail. It was very hard to leave a message with out alarming the parents. But I guess I did a good job because when the dad called back he wasn't alarmed. Anyway, both kids parents showed up and the hurt kids parents declined the ambulance ride. I think he should have went he was laying on the sidewalk feet on the sidewalk upper body in the road...CAN YOU BELIEVE NO CARS STOPPED TO HELP!! I hope the parents took him to the hospital because he did hit the back of his head. But no loss of concsiouness, or vomiting, he was just super shakey and wobbly. The other kid was saying that the hurt kid started it ect. but you could tell that the hurt kid was to little to be involved in a fight with the other kids (he just had a sweet, nice kid look) and the bigger kid looked like a hoodalum. Well big kids dad showed up and big kid went home in some serious big trouble. Hurt kids parents have the option to press charges I sure hope they do. And he got his IPOD back. Man what an end to my work day. I just wanted to cry for hurt kid, I felt so bad for him. I went home and called my kids to make sure they were ok.

Oh man I hate that excuse... I never got away with anything because "girls will be girls" - I got slogged! But I see it all the time - that double standard. Boo!

I hope the kid that stole the ipod gets sent to juvee for a week or two... maybe that will set him straight.

You know what was so sad about it all..The little one was a 6th grader the older one was 7th or 8th...He had no way to even defend himself it was 2 against 1..The police were making a visit to the other kids house after they left my work.

that's such a sad tale!

It's pathetic how people are too scared to help others in trouble. I was told that if i were ever getting mugged etc. to yell "fire" because others will come to that but not "help." So sad. :-(

Lissette, I can only pray that should something like this ever happen to one of my children (God Forbid)... that someone would be kind enough to help them. They are children... someone's baby no matter what their age they will always be someone's baby. I am still upset about this and it's been several hours.

Since I work for a newspaper your suppose to report the news but our Editor had the foresight to tell the reporters there would NOT be a story on this event. Though I think he needs to do some kind of editorial on how kids will go to certain lengths to obtain what they want.

I tell you what Jess...My oldest child is 12 and since he was 10 each year he has had a kids bully him, and each year I go straight to the dean of students and put a stop to it. I will not stand for my kids to be bullied and my kids had better never ever bully a kid. I pray I have taught the well and they will step up to the plate and be a friend to someone having this trouble.
