tommorrow will be a bad day.

Yeah. Rayven and I will both be pretty sore tomorrow.

yep. its 7:30pm on Friday night.....nope no laptop at the horse show....we didnt go.

Ask Rayven why not. Because the scary blue trailer might swallow her whole!

Well. Dad got there a bit late due to road work, and so we had limited time to load her. Unfortunately. Well Rayven got both front hooves up the first time and I got SOOO excited, I thought she would load this time....nope. Of course not. Three times she got both front hooves on and backed off. Well so we kept trying and failing trying and failing.

Well, my boots that I show in (my old ones new ones should be comming soon) are slippery. I always slip in them. She backed off ( I have the stud chain on it because she works better with it) and I snapped her a small snap and she backed up a bit, I slipped and unfortunately made it pull tighter. She reared up and i said "RAYVEN! NOO!" flipped over (if you are standing in front of her she fell towards her right side) on her right side pulled me down and luckily she knew I came down and didnt get up because I would have been BADLY stepped on front front hooves. So she got up and her head was cocked sideways. I freaked. I thought she fractured/broke something and started bawling. My dad isnt helping by saying something. I dont know what he said I was to worked up by Rayven. So that was that.

My parents are divorced. Have been for a while. Well they were both there with my dads GF in the truck. My dad and mom start bickering and i kept saying "Stop! Just stop it!!" I ahte it when they fight in front of me. But it just kept getting worse and worse and my dad came over and called my mom a mean name to me and she freaked and told me to put the horse away and for my dad to get out of here. With a few choice words. (with allt his happening there was a big fight between them)

Well i dont remember if this was before or after she flipped over. But Rayven was VERY stressed, and scared, and confused and nervous so mom called cybill, and I was a mess. I just didnt want to go to the show anymore, Rayven, it wouldnt be fare if she went because she was TO worked up. Just, horrible! I dont blame her. She never reared up and flipped. I would have been scared to. She wouldnt step closer to the trailer she was so scared. So I knew it was time to go to the barn......but I also knew thats what she wanted. I knew all she wanted to do was go back to the barn and I was torn on what to do.
So cybill gets there and I told her, no, I dont want her to go I just dont want to go to the show. She said "no? Well how are u ever going to go to a show if u dont get her loaded??" I said fine. w.e. load her idk. freak her out even more. Well she told me to go in the house and I said no, and they pushed me to go so finally I jsut walked away talking tomyself. I couldnt take it. I was scared because of the stud chain and Rayven DID NOT want to load and it was just horrible. So of course unseccesfully she didnt load. No luck what so ever. Nothing.

I dont know what im going to do. We have a show in two weeks which luckily its a sunday so we will ahve the whole day to load her if we need it. But. If she doesnt load, i dont know what im going to do. I cant spend the whole season hoping and praying she will load, I will be forced to get another horse, which is okay, I planned on getting a horse the end of the season anyway, but still. I will feel bad because rayven, I know she wants to run the pattern, and I know she loves to show, but i cant keep stressing her out, me out, and idk, i guess that kinda seems selfish, and i dont mean it to, but if shes not going to be laoding i cant waste everything i did to become a barrel racer just to...idk...just to waste it all away and not do anything...id that makes sense.

But all in all....yeah it was a HORRIBLE day. i am stressed over A LOT. My grades. Friends, boys, horses, everything. Its just not a good situation, I have SO much stress and cant take it.

Sorry its so long, but I dont have a whole lot of people to talk to right now.

Oh and R.I.P Mellow- A barn kitty was just killed today by Oppie the horse out in the pasture. Unfortuantely...she was pregnant...but she was also deaf and blind so slim chance the kittens would have survived..

Thanks for reading

I'm glad no one was seriously hurt.

This is a perfect example of why harsh equipment is never a great idea because accidents can and do happen, even if you intend to use it appropriately.

I hope she didn't cause any damage to herself that hasn't shown up yet.

I'm sorry to hear that this happened. But... if she has a loading problem then why haven't you been practicing with her?

You don't need to get a whole new horse...you just need to train the one you have. I don't mean to be harsh but your parents probably made it worse. If they have tension between them that probably made you tense which made Reyven tense... etc etc. Maybe tell them next time that only one of them can help you.

I'm saying that accidents happen. And you can be perfectly versed in the use of a stud chain (in this situation though it could apply to many different pieces of equipment in the equine world). But if an accident happens, it's going to cause the same disasterous effects as it would if you had done it on purpose. Iow, horses don't understand 'oops, I didn't mean to do that'.

I'm not saying that you shouldn't use a stud chain persay. But perhaps suggesting that you should have had trailering down pat in a regular halter/lead rope before it 'had' to be done and you were pressed for time.

Again, I'm not saying anything against you. I'm just saying that this is a great example of 'accidents happen' no matter who you are or how experienced you may be, etc...

Stud chains are good tools if you know how to properly use them. If she reared up because of the chain then the logical thing to do is to not use it IMO.

When it comes to trailer loading I do not believe in harshness. That only makes the horse worse about the trailer because trailer = pain instead of trailer = good.

Maybe you should start a thread in training, or do a search on the forum for other threads about teaching horses to load into trailers the right way.

You need to be able to load her, not have to rely on someone else. And you can't expect your parents to just get along. Most likely it won't happen. I would just nicely ask them to wait in their cars.
