| Senior Member | toes out???
Okay so im pretty sure that elmo is toed out. ![]() the one foot that isn't resting that is basically how he holds his legs normally. But my question is how much of a comformation flaw is this.Because he is toed out how much would this alone hold him back in the show world. I dont think it will all that much seeing as with the app show this spring right before they called out the ribbons the judge came up to me and says "that he has really nice legs and they're really straight" and then went on to place me 2nd. HOw bad is it that he is toed out i am like panicing about htis lol. It isn't really noticabe when he walks inless you standing behind him . ~thanx~

Hind feet naturally toe out a little bit. To see the horse with one leg resting isn't a fair critique though.

i realize that but his conformation set aside is being slightly toed out a major comformation flaw.??? I'm sorry for the bad critique picture, but he does stand toed out even when foot is not resting. I always thought that the did . cause i was thinking that a horse would look a bit funny if his hindlegs were totally straight.

Err.. I believe this would be natural lol Not too sure.. but I don't see how the horses hindlegs would operate if they were straight..

| Senior Member+ | Like I said, correct conformation calls for the entire hind leg to toe out just a little. If it were straight, the stifle would have a hard time coming forward enough.

Being "toed out" only applies to the forelegs. As other posters said, the hind legs are supposed to be slightly toed out.
