![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() | Bwah ha ha, I didn't know that about the JC. Glad to know the APHA isn't the only screwed-up registry out there! What's confusing about the APHA... since they are a color-based breed registry, you would think they would want to go in-depth about the genetics of each particular horses. *shrug* Anyhow, back on topic: Yup, I agree with all the others that the foal is definitlely a tovero. Same reasons. Massive amount of white on the face is a dead giveaway. |

![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() | No they want to keep creating hassles for themselves. they want to keep fighting with owners when the register a LWO positive horse as a tobiano and then the "tobiano" has an obviously overo baby by/out of another tobiano. |

![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() | The term Tovero needs to be dumped, its ludicris with current education. SO many horses could be "hiding" frame and other patterns, just register the obivious if its tobiano, of course if its not tobiano its overo... and if its APHA registered it sould be a requirement by the age of 3 to have LWO testing reguardless of pattern. They need someone with some education in the office. |

![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() | Then what about horses who are obviously tobiano and some overo? Just register them as overo and then have the same problems when they have a just tobiano foal? The best way to go is just register the horse as what it is, tobiano and frame, just frame, just tobiano, just splash, splash and frame, etc etc etc. If they do that then tovero can go, but until then getting rid of tovero does nothing to help. |

I do agree with the Frame and Tobi though - can test, so that's what they should be listed as. As with the JC, much of this could be solved with having a genotype box and a phenotype box. Sure would make things easier with gray |

![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() | But what happens when two tobianos produce a "non-tobiano" or when two "non tobianos" produce a tobiano? |

![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() | its a no brainer, thinking to hard, tobiano produces non-tobianos now, registered non-tobiano, and if non's produce one well them someone was registered wrong, there is better testing for that now. |

You still will have APHA registering things wrong and and then have problems when their mistakes show.

Plus how does that help when you have a horse that is homozygous for tobiano plus has LWO... it is still tobiano and STILL OVERO....
