Arrow To ride or not to ride? That's my question!

Not sure who has followed my geldings problems Not sure where we're headed - Navicular but it comes down to spending a lot of money to insure He sees many happy days as a pasture puff without being lame.

So the barn owner/original seller has given me two options both of them aren't options in my mind muchless heart right now. Option one was to trade Frankie back to Him for another horse. Option two was to keep Frankie and buy one of the others half price. I have explained to Him that when I purchased Frankie with the intentions for Him to have a forever home with me that's just what He has, so No trade backs. And as for option two I cannot afford another horse right now considering I'm looking at 6 months of Frankie being stall bound and racking up vet and farrier bills.

Then I discussed a third option that will work out for both of us, sort of. I said I will work with both of the two yr olds to get them going under saddle. As long as I still have the option to purchase which ever one I decide that I click with should I have the money at a later time. There are two three yr olds that are probably leaving the end of this month that are already broke to ride, so He said I can ride those two until they leave which in His mind should give me time to get the other two atleast started.

Here's my problem, Frankie gets jealous if I'm at the barn and not fooling with Him and that just breaks my heart! So how can I justify making my horse jealous just so I can ride? How do you guys handle multiple horses when there is a jealous one that can't be worked or riden at all?

I do have the option of working with these horses where Frankie can't see me, so long as I can work/ride in the outdoor which is weather permitting. That leads to my internal guilt trip. Anyone else have that problem or am I just being silly?

Have you looked into a barefoot farrier ? I have heard of them doing great things with this type of problem. Of coarse it won't work for all cases but it may be worth a try.

Frankie will have to learn to deal with it Seriously. It's not a jealously like you are trying to attach to him. He enjoys attention, and when you are around feels he should be getting it. He will learn that it's not all about him

Echo gets Horribly jelous if I ride someone else...especially if they give me attitude. It drives him nuts. He runs back and forth and cries and carries on. He even tried to climb out of his stall when ever I worked Warlock. I ended up having to work him out of sight. That worked well but if that is not an option he'll just have to get used to it. You have given him a wonderful forever home. A small amount of stress while you spend time with another is not to bad considering the other option......trading him back!
