Personally, since you will not be showing until next spring, WHY bother now? u are just going to have to keep it pulled or pull it again in the spring. If you decide to pull it, do it next spring rather than now.

I keep my horses mane short all show season, and then I dont fuss with it during the winter, and then start over again.

Just wait til spring then do it.

Now that is cool. I LOVE that long banded mane.

I have tried to do the running braid before, but I think I could get it with practice. This way we could still look "professional", but without wasting the 5 years of growing her mane back.

A Diamond braid could also work, but it definitely would not end up looking like one!

Thanks!

Well since a horses mane helps keeps a horse warm, I wouldnt pull it intill spring, if you want to pull it.

if you are going to show I'd pull it because long manes look messy IMO. if you are just doing a handful of local shows then I'd keep it long, she looks very cute with it.

I'll probably be doing at least 10 shows with that circuit and a few others next year if she is sound enough (Though I'm pretty sure she will be; she was so jealous when I rode Minot this afternoon)

Depending on Minot's progress under saddle (she wore a bridle for the first time under her halter today and did really well), I might just use her in the English classes and just use Cat in western. But that might be later in the season... idk

Thanks everyone!

ps: (just a humorous note)
I think it's kinda funny that the poll has stayed completely even this entire time (10 for pulling either now or in the spring and 10 for not pulling)

That's exactly why I thought about just waiting until spring if I end up pulling it
