To cut or not to cut

So, I was wondering if I should cut my horse's mane and tail. Her tail is pretty long, about 4-5 inches off the ground (I keep it short enough she doesn't step on it) and her mane is about as long as it is going to grow (about 16'' I think...) So I was wondering if I should bang her tail like you see all the fancy english horse's tails, and cut her mane to about 4'' (I believe that's the right length). I want it short so it is easier to braid and take care of. But we're only showing localy this year, and there is only one more show, so what should I do?
Sorry I don't have pics, I tried uploading but it didn't work
Oppinions please. thanks

Since you have only one more local show, I would do whatever you like best. If you had more shows coming up I would pull the mane, but since there is only one more I would do whatever you think looks best. As for the tail, i am the wrong person to ask! lol, we want our horses' tail dragging the ground! Once again since you have only one more show I wouldn't worry about it. YOu can always bang it next year at the beginning of the show season and have it fresh.

okay, thanks. Also, her mane is pretty thin, would keeping it short help it to get thicker? And same with her tail?

Lol, ok.

Maybe trim it up. But thats it.

And I like her thin mane. Alot easier to braid than George's or Kamoko's, they have THICK manes
