To breed or not to breed my mare??

I'm thinking about breeding my 8 year old AQHA mare (Docs Zoey Bar). She is foundation bred and I would be considering AQHA foundation bred stallions only.

I've attached some pictures of her...

Is it worth it to breed her??
Do you think she is built nice enough to breed??
Would she add value to the foundation quarter lines??

Can you take some "conformation" pics for me?

Moving pics look funny to me, and based upon them, i would "consider" it, but not seriously.....

I would say that if you can't get at least $2,500 for the foal, don't bother, unless the foal is for you.

Shell, did I hear you right? With prices right now, and not KNoWING about how the foal will turn out, knowing how much the foal will go for is IRRELIVENT!.

Luckyduck-she is a beautiful horse from what I can see. Why do you want to breed her? Do you want to sell a baby or keep one for your self? Do you have a trainer that can help you out with the desision? Do you have more pics of her? I would love to see more

I would most likely keep the foal unless it was a colt and I felt that he was too valuable to geld or something like that.

I'll see if I can find some better pictures when I get home this afternoon... she hasn't got the best neck, but her bloodlines are good. I just don't want to breed her if it wouldn't be an asset to the breed... there are plenty of other horses out there that need good homes.

mtroika, I don't have a trainer right now because I just moved. I'm in the process of building a new riding ring and finding one.

if you intend to bredd from her for your purpose i.e another horse for you then it may be worth thinking about

Bloodlines are great to have, IMHO, but if your horse is lacking something, the chance that will be passed on is at least 50%, good bloodlines or no. She's a pretty mare , but as a Foundation QH broodmare, I'm not sure (even for just one foal, not implying you want to just breed and breed and breed ).

If you want a foal from her for yourself, that's a different matter .

Regardless, I COMMEND you for asking these important questions..... Not saying "I have her and I'm gonna breed her!" THANK YOU!

there's something i dont like about her neck but it may just be the pictures.

If you are breeding her to have a foal that you will keep, then why not! It may turn out really well.
