Why don't you just use black touchup spray? The have it for when you go to a show, it would be less damaging on his tail.

be VERY careful what you use to die your horses hair..
their hair frizzes out and burns easier than ours does...

i would using "loving care" wash out dye if i was going to use human dye....

Sounds good to me!! All I know is that the yellow won't come out.

We do this with the minis. First you get a bit of the tail/mane and test it(pull the mane/cut a bit of the tail) and put the dye on the hair and wait. Just to make sure it's what you want. Then take a little area of mane/tail and test it there to make sure the horse isn't allergic...Then I guess you just dye the whole thing. Then you just wash the tail/mane.

I know, I was just mentioning that it doesn't always put moisture back (Im currently in cosmetology)

oh and also, (im not sure who posted it right now) but yes horses hair is different than ours, their hair shaft is hollower, at least that is what I was told.

*****Be cautious if you are showing a horse at breed shows and do this... it is ILLEGAL! It's considered altering the horse's color... if, by any means, they were to find out that your horse has had any type of dye applied, you will be disqualified

No worries, Just backing you up. My mom was in hair dressing for 15 years And I agree, horses hair is much different than humans- its function has caused it to evolve differently. ie. we dont use it for warmth anymore!
