THREE STOLEN HORSES STOLEN TODAY FROM GILMER COUNTY, GA
Owner is filing report at this moment.

--Paint mare 4 yrs old brown with white markings
--7 yr old Creme colored gelding
--Brown mare that looks like Paso with long black tail and white star. This one is very skittish.

If you went to a sale tonight, like Burrell Brothers did you see any horses like this

Fence was cut and horses removed from Boardtown Rd in Ellijay, GA between 9am-3pm Monday March 27th.

That is horrible. Why in the world would you want to steal other peoples horses. I mean even if they are going to sell them for slaughter or something they aren't going to get much for them. I mean around here horses at the auctions aren't going for much. I was just at a sale last month and I think the highest a horse went for was $600 or $700. I hope the rightfull owners get their horses back and the thieves get punished.

Some horses are not stolen for the slaughter houses, while now that the plants have to pay for the inspections, well horse sales are down, cut backs killer buyers and such, really and I can't be active in this area, The economy is really bad and what evil people will do to get some money. The laws have to be more strict for horse theft, and I feel that one needs papers of registation and proof of sale before a horse goes into auction, this is complicated. History back when they used to hang horse theifs.

I hope these horses that are stolen that the theif will treat them right, God the horse will miss his owner and the owners? are devastated, please all protect your horses...

I too hope they all get their horses back, and everyone can help, if you see a horse that has beenmissing/stolen you can post up fliers, go to auctions if able, where I live in my state not much happens...

That's just horrible! Poor horses...poor owner(s)...

It is horrible, but sadly it does happen a fair amount because at the right auctions people can get decent prices, and well its all profit cept whatever it costs to trailer. I hate branding horses but when I was living down in RI they had a problem with horses being stolen and if you wanted to board at my barn you were required to brand the horse for a few months while they delt with the issues. Some people also has their mouths tatooed, but until they caught the group some specific ID was required on the horse, thats how bad it got. It really was horrible!
