Thoughts on my TB's Pedigree?

I neeeed to stop posting Banner threads!

But I'm just getting so into the whole thoroughbred thing. Believe it or not, he's my first registered horse, haha. I recognize a few of these names, which is saying something, because I really don't know much about thoroughbred bloodlines.

So what can you experts tell me about this pedigree? He wasn't very successful on the track, but he has an awesome disposition.

Forestry is one of Storm Cat's best sons so I have heard. Gold Princess looks like a very nice mare. Both of them are graded winners and only about ten percent of Thoroughbreds ever win a graded stakes race.

Oh, and interesting enough, your boy shares some bloodlines with the great Ruffian! On to Glory is half-brother to Ruffian through their mother, Shenanigans.

Halo is known to be a very tough, sound bloodline, as is Mr. Prospector.

In all, he really has very nice bloodlines. How did he do on the track?

He's got quite a few of the same horses as my TB.
My TB's grandpa is Storm Cat, and he has Mr. Prospector on his dam's side as well.
Other than that, I really don't know much about TB bloodlines.

Thanks guys! It's so much fun to hear learn about my horse's bloodlines, because like I said, he's my first registered horse!

That's so cool that a lot of us have relatives. We should have a family reunion trail ride, haha.

Spotted Mustang: He did alright on the tracks, but not what he was bred to be. He only raced 7 times, won twice and placed third once. He had sore hocks, they injected him and gave him a few months off, and he raced one more time as a 4yo in a cheap claimer. Then his trainer sold him, he sat in a field for nine months, and then I found him

What was he bred for then? Because that is actually a very good record. Many Thoroughbreds never win a thing. Both his parents are pretty darn producers for the track too.

However, Storm Cat foals are notorious for having very poor knees and hocks so I have heard. I am glad he ended up in a good home.

He had a decent record, but I don't think he was at the level of races they wanted him to be at. Or something, I don't know.

He is over at the knee a tad, and his whole back end isn't perfect. But he's sound as can be so far, and we've put him through quite a bit.

I see Bold Ruler in several place, Storm Cat, Native Dancer (no surprise), Secretariat, Northern Dancer, and Mr. P. Princequillo's back there somewhere too, he was okay. Pretty good lines there overall!
