I agree. You don't usually see Thoroughbreds that "buff" without being "chunky" (sprinter types) but he's really gorgeous! Muscular without being too heavy, but nice long legs and just all around handsome!

If you are going TB definately want a sprint start horse.

I still don't see what you are refering to with the pedigree.
Actually right now appendixes are huge in barrels and are winning.

Well if you were going for one of your picks based on pedigree alone I like the first 3. But Like everyone else has said...why TB if you want to show halter??? Lanky isn't going to win in halter..There are tons of halter horses that can do other disciplines...

GG thanks you all for saying such nice things about his "booty"!!!

But I do agree ... if a halter horse is also in your plans, stick with the APHA and AQHA stallions. I cant think of one single TB stallion that could ever produce a winning halter baby! But then again - I cant see a successful halter horse being a success at barrels either ...

Have fun deciding!

Whoa now, back the salt off. There are a LOT of Superior Halter horses that have superiors in other events too, including barrels and roping. After all those butts don't just look good, they've got a lot of power in the ones that are bred right. A good halter horse is more than a pretty face. I know our boy will easily be able to run barrels and he's got the agility to rein as well and right now he's only haltering, and he's still in a growth spurt. 16 at his shoulder, 16.1 at his hip.

A blood line I think you may want to consider is Handle Bar Doc. Our stud is one of his grandsons and oh my gosh, perfect stallion. Gentle as a kitten, a doll to work with, throws Flashy foals and has never lost a regulation halter class. The HBD foals show a lot of cow and speed. The only thing is, the HBD lines tend to be rather short. Our stud is only 14.3hh.

Yes, that was what I was getting at with the stride length comment. Addition of TB blood would usually give a taller horse=less strides between barrels.
