This Makes Me Mad

ok... this is a long and true story and COULD have been faital...
ok we had been looking for a float, we didnt want to spend alot of money so we looked for a 2nd hand one. we found a 2nd hand float in a magazene and str8 away we called and went to look at it. we drove for two hours and we checked it out to the best of out knowlage, we brought it for $3,700. the float was a baby pink!!!
we used it 2 weeks later and we were taking my horse 10 min down the high-way to a camp!! i was really excited about going to the camp.

we got there and unloaded my horse, took off his float gear and put him in the paddoc. my horse is a scrambler so we get new float boots fairly often coz he rips them.
when we cleaned out the float we were SHOCKED to find a HOLE in the bottom of the FLOAT!!!!!
we rushed out to the paddoc to check if he was lame, he wasnt but lucky he had float boots on coz then had a RIP in them "PRAISE THE FLOAT BOOTS"

any way back to the float, the people who sold it to us SAID that they toed clydesdales in it...Yeh Right!!!! they put CHIP WOOD ON THE FLOOR AND PUT RUBBER ON ITHER SIDE (TOP N BOTTOM)

we were soooooo lucky that the horses leg didnt touch the road other wise i would have lost my first horse

i was sooooo mad and scared so now we put a new floor by amberly floats and new floors by amberly floats and we sold it on EBAY!!!! we are buying a new CRIS FLOAT which comes in MAY!!!!! YAY!!!!!

Yes, people will always try to get money out of you for things that arent worth it. Im currently looking for a second hand float and fear becoming in the same situation as you.

Its good that you are going to buy a new float now. I wish I could but unfortunately my funds dont allow it

So you didnt check the floor before you bought it? That is one of the most important things to check when buying a secondhand float.

Yeah. Why didn't you check the floor? Don't be mad at the people you bought it from, be mad at yourself because you didn't check like you should have. ALWAYS check the lights, floor, tires, and hitch before you tow ANYTHING.

float, meaning trailor I guess! Yes that is on your to do list when you buy a used trailor or float, Pick up all rubber matts, and check the front storage compartment to, lights signals, running lights, latches, everything! That is the standard thing to do.

The first thing you do when looking at buying a 2nd hand horse float is check the floor. I bought my '82 Olympic 2nd hand but it has a very solid hardwood floor that is in very good condition. I'm glad that your horse was ok. Its something we all should remind ourselves of when using a timber floored horse float.

The three most important things for looking at trailers, new or used, are the floor, axles and tires. If any of those are bad, you will have an unsafe trailer. Now you know for the future though.
