Thumbs down This is RIDICULOUS!

Is it just me or does this seem absolutely insane to you?

I just got a bill from my trainer, I had Spear in there for two weeks. I had a total of four lessons, and we went to one show (three days).

For one show, four lessons, hauling, and board for two weeks; I received a $1200 bill! *dies*

I'm not even sure how I'm going to come up with the money to pay for that...as I certainly wasn't expecting it to be so large!

Is that normal?!

Oh, and by the way, *I* paid the stall fees, for my own bedding, and my class fees at the show. How on earth did this bill add up to that amount?!

Do you have a detailed breakout of how much everything costs? If not then I would ask for one. Do you know what the trainer advertised as a training cost? Seriously that's a lot and feel it's the trainers job to be upfront and give you an accurate estimate of cost ahead of the agreement.

That's quite a hunk of cash, I'd definately ask what's up with that... seems like he's gutting ya to me.

That does seem like a lot for two weeks.

I'd be on the phone quick-like getting a detailed bill, right up to how much per mile for him to haul. Around here it varies .50 cents to 1.00 a mile.

She charged 1.50 per mile. There were three horses on the trailer though. I have a feeling that, because two of the horses are owned by her, she nailed me with the hauling fees.

UM UM UM if she took you for half the hauling fee that's not right...three horses split three ways. If she has 2 horses then she pays for those 2 horses. That's pretty steep too...depending on how far this show was I would be asking about it. Itemized bill please

I just did my calculations for that type of training, and depending on what your trainer charges for hauling/show fee, I still only came up with approximately $600, and that would be on the high end. How far away was the show? Not that it should be an additional $600, but yes, get a detailed description of the charges... seems a BIT high.

goodness... I know the economy is rough... but if your good customers cannot afford you, you'll run yourself right out of a job!

The show was only 1 hour and 20 minutes from home. The bill is itemized...I need to look it over, I don't think she slipped anything in there, it's just that her prices for everything were through the roof!

What was her going rate for training? Have you tried adding up what she charged for the other things too? And I'd make darn sure she only charged you 1.50/mile, not 4.50 to cover her 2 too.
