My friend and I took finger paints down to the barn and painted her horse up all nice and pretty then took him down to the creek to swim a little which was theraputic for his leg

braiding, undoing, and braiding again
make your horse's coat shine really really brightly, to the max
dress up!
get a big ball and bounce it against your horse until he/she gets used to it, like in those YouTube horsemanship vidoes >.<

heya thnks for the ideas! i love braiding his mane, never thought about braiding flowers are anything into it.

he's alreayd pretty good with walking by you with out a lead rope and i'm still "trying" to get him to bow lol

Well, all of these ideas are great especially the trick training. Wish I would've thought about them when Roxi was on stall rest for close to 4 weeks, all I did was brush her and play with her, and pretty much annoy her. She couldn't wait to get back to work! LOL, but if you really can't stand not riding, see if you can ride a lesson horse or somebody else's while your horse is off work. It will be good practice for you and you can refresh some of those lazy lesson ponies.

I would send my pony to the "horsey spa" for the day Basically spend the afternoon spoiling my horse, grooming, braiding, a couple treats here and there, maybe a leisurely hand-walk (if they're feeling up to it) down the road, come back for some more grooming and then head out for some yummy grazing
