thin / funky mane.. what to do with it?

my new horse Joey has a pretty wild mane...
im not exactly sure how to explain it..
its pretty thin at the moment (i think it was cut funny before or soemthing.. but i guess ill see as it grows more)
and its kind of short..

but im lookign for suggestions on how to try and tame it to one side for starters... and any other suggestions to get it to look good basically!

Beautiful horse . You can buy a mane tamer to put on his neck to train his mane to stay on one side. I actually think it looks pretty cute . You can condition his mane real good with a conditioner, let it sit for a few minutes, rinse it out, then put the mane tamer or neck sweat on. I'm not sure how long to leave it on for, no more than a few days at a time I guess. Good luck.

I always make sure I spray my horse's mane w/ show sheen...let it sit for a little, brush it w/ a regular brush, then brush it with a damp body brush, put a damp towel on it to weigh it down to one side and let it sit for a while. Then I will put a heavy dry towel on it do weigh it down while it dries. If you do this everytime you groom the mane will learn to lay the right way if you keep up with it. It takes a while but works.

edit...
also keeping it alittle longer than what you are used to(about a hand width) will give it more weight and help it stay to one side better
