They're moved into their new home. *pictures added post 7*

Smudge and Parker went to their new home today. Still mine, just a new place that happens to be farther away as well. Anyways, I'm so tired its not even funny. Not sleeping tired, but exhausted tired, lol. So here's a run down of what happene.

10am, leave the house to get to the horses 10 minutes away. I haltered them a few days ago so I didn't have to bother with that... which is probably a good thing considering.

We got there and the truck and trailer were already in the pasture with the horses waiting for me and mom. The guy was nice enough to haul them free of charge.

So I look over at the horses, and Smudge has a gash on his chest . It was not there yesterday, so I guess he got the fence last night or this morning. He would not let me get a lead rope on him, but Parker did.

Neither horse is awesome at loading. After a few minutes of trying some stuff with no luck, I sat down in the trailer with my bucket of feed and waited. Parker was just standing there eating what feed had come out of the bucket when mom had it, but Smudge kept putting one or two front feet in. Parker kept getting in his way, so I tied him to the trailer so he couldn't cut infront of Smudge anymore. And Smudge climbed right in, without a lead rope, to get some feed. We closed the seperator and hoped Parker would follow. Nope.

It just so happens that it started to storm on us right then as well. So there was lightning in the distance, and rain coming down on us. I got frustrated so I left the trailer, and my mom, father, and the guy hauling thought it'd be wise to 'tie him to the trailer and lead him there' not so horse intelligent. I told them no way was THAT going to happen, so they then thought it'd be wise to use a butt rope (for the second time at that, the first time he broke the lead rope). Parker didn't take that well at all, reared up and took off... dragging the guy along with him (the guy happens to be in his 60's)... who eventually fell and let go. I ran after Parker and he slipped onto his side and went sliding on the wet grass like a surfboard on water. He ran wild with the lead rope scaring him for a good five minutes before he stopped and the guy went to get him at the end of the pasture. He got him, brought him back, and we decided to take Smudge and come back for Parker because Parker might prefer the whole trailer for loading than the small space at the back.

We got Smudge there, lead rope on, and out of the trailer. He dragged me a couple of steps because he was frightened when he came out of the trailer at a new place, but calmed down. We then had to get him to walk into the barn... which he didn't like the looks of, lol. But we did get him in. However, he wouldn't go into the stall. My horses aren't used to stalls, or barns really for that matter. So we tried a bunch of stuff to get him in, but it just wasn't happening. So I sent the guy back to work on Parker (my father had stayed back with Parker... because Parker jumps fences when he's left alone) and hoped my mom would show up soon... she had my water bottle, and cell phone with her. She took quite a while. I had to shut the barn doors so Smudge didn't think he could run off, and tied him to the stall, just hoping he'd go in on his own. But no. Mom took waaaaaay too long, so I was sitting there, half asleep in the chair waiting, then I'd get up and play with the border collie puppy that was in one of the stalls, then I'd pet this cute pony that was in there for a cut on his leg. Mom showed up with my bucket of feed, and Smudge walked (slooowly) into his stall.

So we closed that up and left to get Parker. He'd broken my other lead rope by the time we got there. My father's two brothers showed up to "help" (but really did nothing) and my mom ended up leaving to go get a check to pay the board for the month (I don't have checks... I should really get some though) and everyone then left to get food... leaving me with Parker, and one of the brother's stayed. Parker broke the rope again (they'd tied it back together) but I tied it together for the second time again since I didn't have another one with me. My mom came back, and we waited patiently (I didn't lose my patience after that morning when it was raining... what can I say, I was cold at the time, lol) in the heat, for him to take a step in for some water, feed, and sugar cubes. Everytime he took a step closer, he got something for it. Eventually, he took one big step and the other three feet followed. We closed the divider, I got the buckets out, and waited two minutes for the guys to come back to haul him. Patience is the key.

We got back to the barn, and waited for him to come out of the trailer. But then he wouldn't go in the barn. So the husband (there's a fairly young husband and wife that own the boarding place) took Parker's rope and helped us out. He is the master of butt ropes I have to say, LOL. He got a lunge line (this was after many failed attempts at persuasion) and the second it touched Parker's butt, he was in the barn. He had to do it again to get him in the stall, but it didn't take long at all. It probably didn't hurt that the guy was a big fellow, lol. He even said he'd clean out Smudge's cut and put some blue spray on it for us. I warned him that Smudge is tough to handle for anyone but me because he doesn't trust new people, but he'd do it anyways. I've got some ointment I'll take out with me tomorrow for it too. They'll be turning them out in the pasture tomorrow.

All in all, it took us seven hours to get them both there . And the drive was only 10-15 minutes. Bad Parker.

No pictures today, but I'll get some tomorrow, particularly of Smudge's cut. Poor guy.

Poor Smudge! I hope his cut isn't too bad. Glad you got them moved, what an adventure that turned out to be! Where abouts is the new place?

Nah, considering what Smores' leg looked like when he got caught in the fence, this is nothing. But it's bad enough for me to feel sorry for him and put stuff on it.

Adventure's not quite the word, lol, but it works.

It's North of Bently just off of HWY 20 on RR 1-4 by a goat farm, lol.

Horses will be horses.

I hope that his cut heals up and they calm down at the new place.

Good Luck and can't wait for pictures!

Okay, so I only got a couple of pictures. We got out there right before she let them into the pasture, which is probably a good thing, because Smudge likely wouldn't have let her lead him.

Here's the poor boy's chest

And this is the only picture I managed to get of them before I left... they're the tiny dots in the picture... Parker being that white butt.

And these are some of their pasture mates
