    They remade Steel Magnolias!!

So lame, I know.... but the original Steel Magnolias is one of my favorite movies. It always makes me cry. You know the part after the daughter's funeral when the mom is on saying she could run a marathon, but her daughter never could? Gets me every time. Then two seconds later I'm laughing when she wants to hit something and Oiser is offered up. I think I know every line by heart.

How can you not love such a great cast? Dolly Parton, Julia Roberts, Sally Field, Darryl Hannah, Shirley McLaine....

Anyway I was flipping through the channels and saw that it was on, so I clicked on it.... but it was a remake! Huh? How could anything compare to the original? I know it was a play first, but I never saw the onstage version. I tried to watch the 2012 remake version with Queen Latifah, and I just couldn't. I kept hearing the voices and lines and picturing Shirley McLaine and Olympia Dukakis. I kept picturing Roberts' thousand watt smile.

The remake made me sad. I'm so lame.....

I didn't like the Parent Trap remake with Lindsey Lohan either. She just doesn't hold a candle to Hayley Mills.

That is easily one of my favorite movies. I may have to look up the remake just because...

Yeah I saw the remake and it just wasn't the same. But that is often how many of the remakes go. I prefer the original 9/10.

I never knew there was a remake - but no one could take the place of the original, especially dolly! lol (i LOVE dolly).

I dislike remakes of movies very much - main reason I refuse to watch the rediculous "remake" of Footloose....love Blake Shelton but his remake of the footloose song will never hold a candle to Kenny Loggins...

    I mostly dislike remakes too.

I did enjoy 21 Jumpstreet and didn't even realize it had been a TV show.

I also like The Longest Yard remake better than the original.

Sometimes remakes work.... other times not so much. I'm the same way with songs.

Saw it on Netflix. I loved the MC's country friend but quite honestly, I wanted to punch the MC in the face. There would be spans of dialogue where he'd be fairly accent neutral and then BAM! HEAVY BOSTON ACCENT... obviously forced.

A movie I never wish to see remade is The Princess Bride. lol I wouldn't mind seeing The Last Unicorn but it HAS to be well done.

    I have a goat named M'Lynn... lol

I hated the remake...the acting was horrible, which I was surprised because I do like the people who portrayed the original characters but...ugh...it was awful awful..the girl who played Shelby was awwwwwwful...I wish they had never remade it...

I thought Phylicia Rashad was actually pretty good as Clairee. But yeah. I toughed it out last night. I liked all the little nods toward the original but HATED the ending, especially the post funeral scene. That was torture because it was SO well done in the original and the acting was awful there.

Yeah, I didn't make it past the wedding. I kept seeing the armadillo groom's cake from the original, and I kept hearing Shirly MacLain hacking off the butt for the father of the bride. His response always makes me laugh. In the remake the line sounded weird spoken by a different actor.
