LOL thats not what i meant, a horse isnt just his pedigree or what people call it. i agree that these people dont know what they are talking about but thats no indicator on the quality of the horse imo. heehee. good add though i wonder how many people got a chuckle out of that one!

I do pay a whole lot of attention to pedigree, which is why I mentioned his lines, because when I am looking at a prospect for working on the ranch, there are certian "types" that just are better "risks" because of the way they are bred. I know certian lines have more cow on average and more ability we need on average than others. So, in my case, pedigree plays just as important part as conformation. The color is just a bonus, but it's a bonus I look for.

HEAR HEAR! So many people tell me "you can't ride color." Well, fine, but I like to have some color on what I am riding! I don't see anything wrong with being attracted to certain colors. If that is *part* or your decision, then so be it. Pedigree is an important choice, and I have no respect either for those that breed horses for color alone and conformation and workability go out the window. If a breeding stallion or breeding mare have nothing to show but a pretty coat, then they are not worth the time to look at. And champoinships 4 generations back don't count, either. A well rounded horse should have it all, and so should it's parents.

They had their stallions and their mares on their website, which is where I got my information. But, since this is not a "critique my horse" thread I don't want to put their website up.

He was TEJ, Hancock (not Blue Valentine) and The Continental. Which is a specific mix I look for in our working horses. We have quite a few and it is a good working cross, brains, brawn and soundness/durability. They can do anything with a cow and cover a lot of ground and stay sound. I still think he's probably a good horse, just not interested in "promoting their program" when they can't be bothered to get it right as breeders.

I had a tri-colored llama once....

But, I hear you. Just because a horse's mane and tail are differently colored than it's body does not make it a "tri-color." Same with dark points. MANY solid horses have darker manes, tails, and points and aren't "bi-colored," LOL!

Ouch! Well, the silver lining is Chocolate milkshakes

I am a little more complacent with paints and apps as their patterns can really do funny things to colors. But plain vanillia QH's? Come on, LOL. If your breeding program ties to Hancock, you better understand roans! I guess I'm getting crankier in my old age, LOL
