Here is a sight that might help you understand colors better. Two things on it are incorrect in that they do not address brown as a color and they call champagne with cream... ivory... instead of ivory the term cream is added to the base color so a sorrel champagne which is called gold would be a gold cream....

Once you think you have that site down... here is another site with more detail...

She looks really nice in the top photo

I understand most colour things, but i've never ever seen a grulla advertised here, and pains are just not very common at all, though they're starting to appear a bit

As for the dun/grey thing, I know they can change colour but this horse was 14 :S Or it was dun/chesnut or something.. still, I wouldn't be particularly put off if people listed the colours wrong. hehe.

I have a "tan" horse. Really... honestly.. she is tan. I suspect she is just an interesting chestnut, but I will be testing to see.

Silver grullo actually has been used to describe a grullo with a creme gene. I believe this was before Silver (Z) was really identified.

I've noticed that... but that is also very annoying since there IS a real term for that. And even with that in mind there are STILL LOTS of simple black duns with nothing else that are called silver grullos (no cream, no silver).

LOL, this is very, very true. "Hey my horse is kind of silvery, let's call him a silver grullo!"

Yep and DD were called Albinos once too... but that does not make it a correct term.

I got an e-mail today along those lines.

I'm particular to Dun horses and have said so on my website of my critters. Well I get an e-mail from an individual who has an appraisal service, and does equine consulting etc. The individual mentions that she read about how I like dun factor horses and then goes on to try and sell me a Buckskin. Granted on a bay horse, Dun and Cream create a similar appearance, But you don't get the same look in the red and Black horses with cream. Seriously you'd figure someone who claims to be an equine appraiser and consultant would know the difference between dun factor and the cream gene.
