BAH! I was turned off enough that I don't want to drive to IL to even look anymore. However, the lunch date sounds good. Now I just have to find a day I don't have 101 things on my to-do list, LOL.

tiptoes in cautiously. . .

couldn't the horse on the left that is advertized as a grullo actually be a grullo as well as roan?

Not that that would detract from your point about advertizing that isn't quite accurate.

I believe that she said his head was brown, so no definitely not grullo.

No need to tiptoe because that is a valid question. However, because he is AQHA registered and I can traceback his lines I KNOW that he does not have a dun parent to inheriet the gene necessary to be a Grullo. It's that easy as an avid proponent of the AQHA horse and the Foundation horses to figure out if that's a possibility. And, since these "folks" are both color breeders and Foundation breeders of AQHA horses, they have NO excuse, IMO.

Yes, his head deffinately *looks* brown and there is brown in his points, but since this is a mag. picture, it could be "off". That is why I also check lines. To see if there is ANY chance a dun may have hidden in there somewhere. But, as I said, he doesn't have anything that even "might" be a 'hidden" dun.

You would think so... but no. She was a brunette. (Pauses to think about it....) Could she have dyed her hair though?

I'm no color expert by far, but I would have called that horse a bay roan too, like you pointed out, he had a bay head and bay or black points.....

But given his age... AQHA could have called him a blue roan... Depending on the photos... if there were any at all on either of those horses... the information is only as good as what is provided by the owner to the registry.

haha I love it, A palomino with a black mane and tail lmao thats classic. We went to see a horse once and the owner said it was "Tan" lmao. My mom read me the add and I responded with "Wow now they even have tanning beds for horses! Who knew, maybe we can take Honey and darken her up to a brown". It was just a plain old sorrel horse in the end but I love the names people come up with for horse colors.
