Oh, I KNOW! I was planning on attending before Matt decided to throw his hat in the Mustang ring, but now that he's going to be up there that just adds MORE things to do! LOL. We're going to watch the Magnificant 7 stock horse competition (since that is what we are doing with our horses at home) and then the Mustang Challenge and then all the Vendors (there are a few things I'm checking out, including trailers!) and then trying to squeeze in some of the trainer demos ... oy!!! I'm sure it'll be too much fun - we'll be struggling to stay awake on the way home, LOL ....

That sounds really neat

They had an adoption thing for BLM last year that I went to in Clemson, SC. It was cool just going to check everything out.

My aunt has a BLM in AZ that her daughter is now doing jumping with.

Yup they have a LOT of vendors there, hence why my boss said they'd pay to send me down to work the booths for sales leads, ROTFLMAO... BUT I'm under 'strict' orders to watch some of the clinics etc too

I'm pretty versed and working trade shows for leads, so if I do things right I should be able to hit 200 booths a day and still do some of the other stuff I want to do too and YES I'll need that adult beverage (or two) every night to sooth my aching feet, ROTFLMAO.

Speaking about Mustangs.. I saw on TV last night where they are taking mustangs from the wild, sending them to a Prison and having the inmates tame them, and train them. Afterwards they go to the Police to do Border Patrol in the mountainous country.

Isn't that the coolest!

The horses that go to the prisons are only halter broke before being sent onto the Border Patrol agents. They take over the training from there. I talked to the Border Patrol agent in charge of this program last June at a Mustang adoption event. He wants to have every last horse in the Border Patrol replaced with a mustang within the next 5 years.

Tracey is a good friend of mine and she has her guy going well. She lives in Whatcom county. They actually only get about 90 days with thier horses this time versus the 100 days in the 'big' one from last year. And part of those 90 days is traveling from CA to home with your horse and then traveling back to CA for the competition.

They actually have 3 of these mustang challenges going on this year, Western States, Midwest, And East. They were considering having one final competition where all of the top trainers in each go and compete but decided against it. Instead they are doing another 'big' Extreme Mustang Makeover.

The horses are not smaller than the ones in last years competition. There are quite a few that are almost 16 hands. The only major difference in the horses in this go around, is that they are using mares as well as geldings. Last time it was geldings.

There are alot of the trainers doing really excellent with their horses already. The competition is going to be fierce and I have a feeling the bidding will be as well.

I will be competing in the Midwest challenge! I did a thread on it a while ago, we are only about 2 weeks away from the competition.

If you want you can check out my blog, it has links to many of the Midwest Challenge trainers as well as a few of the Western States trainers!!
