Angry The Sheriff came to Stormyhearts house today!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

We're doing chores in our jammies It's the undersheriff! Not bad looking either I might add! Well they need a favor. RIGHT! Okay so we get dressed and off to rescue a horse thats abandoned and is injured. Thats all the info they could give us. The whole way I'm driving Stormys sitting in the seat going oh god I hope hes not another wild stallion. I hope it will go on the trailer...LOL.. I laugh because yep he is a stallion... With a huge 8 inch gash on the cannon bone on a back leg with flesh hanging. Walking actually pretty good. Shape wise hes not thin so thats a plus! Guessing a long yearling. Cute roan to boot. We had fun loading him with a sheriff that knows nothing about loading horses and laughed at us because we were spreading sweet feed on the floor of the trailer to get him to sniff and search (the horse, not the sheriff) He laugh at us and called us the horse whisperers. BUT he went in the trailer with encouragement of locked arms on his butt. Anyways I got a few pics on my cell phone so I'm gonna call Peggy Sue and see if I can send em to her to upload! Hopefully pics will come soon!

LOL! Hes settling in pretty good. Hes in a stall with hay and he licked on a salt block forever! Then got a big ole drink. He hasn't been here long. Just long enough to IV Gents and a Penicillin shot. Wormed him. Cleaned up the wound as best as we could for now. Hes a kicker and I did the best I could at wrapping his leg for now. It needs more attention but were gonna let him settle in! There is chunks of meat that need cut and about 1-2 inches of loose skin thats attached but hanging like a pocket. I called Peggy Sue and I'm going to send her pics from my phone and she will post them later. There not the best but you can kind of see the wound. It's pretty nasty! Poor boys been that way for awhile. They said he was onery but we haven't seen that yet! Lets hope he stays like that. Hes got buddies that need to come off. BIG buddies...LOL..Stormy was right when she said theres never a dull moment around here. We always got something going on! I swear thats all we do is Dr horses. BUT I love it! It's awesome to see the end results healthy and happy!

Thank you Peggy Sue! They look dark but thats a cell phone pic for you! That leg actually looks worse then in the pic. The wound wraps around to the inside. Yep he will be fine in no time! Did you notice the white circle around the other leg. He looks like hes got an ankle bracelet or a tatoo. Nope hes on house arrest wearing an ankle bracelet.... Gosh what a messy wrap job! It's hard wrapping when hes cow kicking! I will get it better tomorrow or the next day. We only had ace and didn't want to give it alone wo rompun.

I went out and checked on him when I locked the chickens and ducks up last night. He was pretty content eating his hay. He sure is a pretty little thing. So far, he's been loving the attention, and really likes being rubbed and loved on. That leg seems to really be hurting him...he'll be standing there and keep it slightly picked up, then set it down...shift around a little, pick it back up, ect. I think that's why he was kicking while trying to clean and wrap it. Because he was doing that before we ever touched it.

I just can't get over how some people treat animals. You'd think I'd be used to it by now. But, every new case I take in, I am just dumbfounded. It always seems to affect me like it's the first time I've seen it. I think if I ever do get used to it, it will be time to stop rescuing, because that to me would mean, I am becoming just as cold and heartless as those doing the abuse and neglect.

The sheriff came last night and picked up 2 of his 3 goats. We couldn't catch the 3rd one. He's a smart little buggar. He outran every maneuver we tried to try and catch him. So, the next time it rains, he'll go in the barn. When he does that, I'll shut him in, so he can't get out, and then call the sheriff to come and get him. Where there's a will, there's a way, and I won't let a darn goat out fox me.

Right now, we are over run with horses. If anyone is interested in adopting one, just pm me and I'll see if I have anything that fits what you are looking for. I have all breeds, all ages, all colors.

They have no clue how he got injured. He was owned by a couple renting a farm house. HE was an alcoholic, and SHE was a crackhead. They only had permission to have dogs and cats there....but not livestock of any kind. The owner evicted them, and the horse was left behind for quite some time.

Most of that injury is superficial. I honestly believe he will be sound once healed. There will probably be a nasty scar, but that's just a "blemish". He really does walk on it fine....no limp whatsoever. It's just the standing still on it that seems to bother him. I have no doubts it's pretty painful right now. That could explain his "gentle demeanor" with us right now too....he's in pain. The owner of the property where we got him from said he was "pretty ornery". Guess we'll find out as he heals. He's a stud, with both down, so once he's over this injury and on the mend good, THOSE are coming OFF!!!!!!!! LOL

OK....I have a LOT of mouths to feed. So,off to work I go!!
