Did he cut any tendons on that leg? The picture isnt the clearest but it almost looks like he did. Is he knuckling over at all?

No...no website yet. Sorry. As soon as I do have one up, with the mods approval, I will post it on HGS tho.

The wound looks worse than what it is. It's been left unattended for too long, and there's skin hanging that needs to be cut off. Gonna "attempt" that today. But, it doesn't appear as if it goes deep. Seems to be superficial.....as if the wire (which I'm assuming that's what he got injured on) just "degloved" the skin. No tendons were severed, and he walks completely normal on it.

He seemed to be in quite a lot of pain the day we took him in.....no limping while walking, but would pick it up a lot once we cleaned and bandaged it. Gave us a fit getting that accomplished. LOL Had him out yesterday walking him and giving him a little air and excercise, and he seemed as if it didn't bother him at all. I believe he will be 100% sound once healed. But, I will have him vet checked just to be sure before going up for adoption.

Let me know if you think you might want him.

It's too early, I'm not awake yet. I forgot to give a little update on the new rescue.

Got the old bandage off yesterday, and cleaned it up some more. Also, Michelle managed to snip off a little more of the hanging skin. There's a big chunk that needs to come off, but he just doesn't want to cooperate. So, when he goes in for castration, I'm gonna have my vet do it while he's sedated. We had to twitch his ear just to do what we did do to him.

He minds really good for a stud colt. He just doesn't want anyone messing with that leg. Can't blame him tho....it probably doesn't feel too good to have it scrubbed on. It did however, look better yesterday when we removed the bandage....so it is healing.

Other than that, he's doing really well, and hasn't been a problem....YET! LOL

Hes doing awesome! Very good boy! I hand walked him yesterday up the long long drive to the mailbox and thru the hay meadow. We were like flower children and I point to the lil pretty purple flowers and he would eat em. Clover! Hes my new best friend! We did that for about 2 hours. Today he was introduced to hot wire and turned out for a few hours to graze. He respects the hotwire so it's all good! The swelling is totally down and hes on the mend without a lame step! Hes gonna be totally fine. Maybe we can post an updated pic tomorrow when we change his bandage. It looked good last time and I snipped some chunks that were hanging. I'm good for alot of things but my tummy turns to cut the fleshy meat. I get nervous. I can do dead hanging skin tags.

Saying the sheriff was at your door! I was worried something had happened to your horses gal. Hope he is on his way to healing and a new home!

No, nothing happened to my horses. The sheriff just knows I have a horse rescue here, so contacted me to come and pick up the guy.

He's a real sweetheart, and loves attention. His leg is healing good, so I'm thinking he'll be available for adoption very soon.

Anyone interested in him? He will be current on shots, and gelded before leaving here.
