Unhappy The Reason Behind the Need

Why do these horses(or other animals for that matter) have to be rescued? If only people would wake up and think before they breed their mares, stallions, etc...People breed for the wrong reasons and even if they think the reason is right, like there is a demand for this particular breed, and they think that this animal is going to a good home or to make money, you can't always gaurentee(sp) where this animal will be ten years from now. Regardless of registered, purebred, disipline, etc. There are too many animals that need to be rescued and why? Irresponsible owners? selfish breeders? I don't know. What are your opinions, thoughts and stories? It just makes me sad to see animals suffering at the hands of man. This is my opinion, if you don't like it that is fine everybody is entitled to their own.

I think a lot of people breed just to have the foal. Then when they're older they don't want them anymore. It's careless and selfish.

There are also many cases when horses are bred at a real breeding farm and sold to the wrong owner. A lot of times, neglect is a big case.

But I do ask...how can anyone hurt a horse for their own pleasure!?! It's so evil...

I think what happens is everybody thinks that their o.k. mare when bred with a great or o.k. stallion can make a GREAT horse...but it doesnt, and so that horse isn't wanted as much and is not really usable due to its bad personality/confomation/whatever b/c it came from only mediocre parents.

I totally agree with the breeding. People that breed just because "Oh baby horses are so cute, I want one!" and don't take into consideration the stallion or the mare or the bloodlines drive me nuts. It seems seflish.

I think SunBun hit the nail squarely on the head. Just way to much irresponsible breeding going on.
