| Full Member  | The HEY method
Do any of you barrel racer, pole-bender, or gamers use the 'hey' method of training?? As in you yell HEY (or whatever word you use) when your horse is supposed to drop down & turn? Just curious. This is how most of the people I ride/compete with train their horses. And do you use a quirt or split reins on the way home? Wave arms, slap neck, etc? Does anyone NOT use the horn in the turns? I know. Lots of questions. Just seeing what everyone uses.

I dont barrel race anymore..but when I did -my word for them to rate was "hup" and I didnt have to yell it.  I knew afew girls who did yell and while they got the job done, alot of folks giggled at their..um..exhuberence? all the women I looked up to never yelled, they talked low if they talked at all to their horses.I used an over under on the way home, if the horse needed it. always used the horn in turns.
