Do any of you barrel racer, pole-bender, or gamers use the 'hey' method of training?? As in you yell HEY (or whatever word you use) when your horse is supposed to drop down & turn? Just curious. This is how most of the people I ride/compete with train their horses. And do you use a quirt or split reins on the way home? Wave arms, slap neck, etc? Does anyone NOT use the horn in the turns? I know. Lots of questions. Just seeing what everyone uses.

I dont barrel race anymore..but when I did -my word for them to rate was "hup" and I didnt have to yell it. I used an over under on the way home, if the horse needed it. always used the horn in turns.
